INFANT AND CHILDREN (up to age 7) OF REGISTERED PARISHIONERS WITHIN THE HOLY MASS OPTION
FIRST SUNDAY of the month. To have your infant or child baptized during the Sunday celebration of the Holy Mass, you must be a registered and active parishioner.
This will be done at Mass only on the FIRST SUNDAY of each month. The Mass time options are 10:00 a.m. or 12:00 Noon.
INFANT AND CHILDREN (up to age 7) OF REGISTERED PARISHIONERS OUTSIDE OF THE HOLY MASS OPTION
FIRST Saturday of the Month only – English 11:00 am – Spanish 1:00 pm
+ Your child may be baptized among other children and families on the Baptism date. For consideration of an “Individual baptism of a registered parishioners child, permission must be granted by the Pastor. Otherwise, your child may be baptized among other children and families in a Communal Celebration of the Sacrament, on the Baptism date dedicated to Baptisms for Registered Parishioners on the 1st Saturday of the Month.
INFANT and CHILDREN (up to age 7) NON-REGISTERED OUTSIDE OF THE HOLY MASS OPTION
THIRD Saturday of the Month only at English 11:00 am and Spanish 1:00 pm
+ We do not schedule “Private Baptisms” for Non-Registered Parishioners. Your child may be baptized among other children and families on the Baptism date of the 3rd Saturday of the Month.
Parental requirements:
Parents must attend a baptismal preparation class. At least one parent must be a baptized and practicing Catholic. Registering as a parishioner to have your child baptized in our parish is recommended. If you are not registered in our parish and attend another church, you must request a letter from your parish pastor granting permission for your child to be baptized at St. Julie Billiart. You must submit a copy of your child's birth or hospital certificates. Please contact us at least 3 months prior to your desired date for the baptism.
Godparent requirements: (one male and one female)
Godparents must be at least 16 years of age, and one must be a practicing, fully initiated Catholic, which means he/she has been baptized, received First Communion, and been Confirmed in the Catholic faith. Godparents must attend a baptism preparation class, which is offered as an online course at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles website. You may attend classes at another Catholic parish and provide us with a certificate of completion with the name and date of baptism by mail or drop it in person.
· Godparents, one must be male and the other female
· One Christian Witness may accompany one Godparent
· Christian Witness and Godparent must attend a baptismal preparation class
Baptism preparation classes for Parents and Godparents:
Parents and Godparents must attend a baptism preparation class, which is offered as an online course at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles website. You may attend classes at another Catholic parish and provide us with a certificate of completion with the name and date of baptism by mail or drop it in person.
Baptism Classes for Parents and Godparents in English are offered at St. Julie Billiart only on the second Wednesday of the month from 6-7:00 pm every month unless the Wednesday falls on a Church Solemnity, Special event at the Church, or a National Holiday. You'll need to pre-register to attend.
Baptism Classes for Parents and Godparents in Spanish are offered at St. Julie Billiart only on the second Friday of the month from 6-7:00 pm every month unless the Friday falls on a Church Solemnity, a special event at the Church, or a National Holiday. You'll need to pre-register to attend.
